Membership, Growth, and Spiritual Gifts (MGSG) Ministry
Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit; and there
are varieties of services, but the same Lord; and there are varieties
of activities, but it is the same God who activates all of them
in everyone. To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for
the common good. 1 Corinthians 12:4 & 5.
The
mission of MGSG is to reach out to the community and provide an
invitation to Holy Trinity; to purposely involve members in the life of
the congregation through service and participation by matching their
gifts and interests with the programs and tasks of the church in order
that the mission of the church may be fulfilled; to work toward the
incorporation of new members; and to encourage the participation of new
and inactive members.
The MGSG Ministry serves the
congregation in three areas: Membership, Growth and Spiritual Gifts.
The major ministry activities are:
Membership
- Visitor
Follow up - Welcome visitors, invite them to provide contact
information and stay in touch with them to determine how Holy Trinity’s
ministries might serve them.
- New Members’ Orientation -
We assist the pastors in inviting folks to new members’ orientation and
help in the planning and implementation of these classes.
- New
Members Sunday – We take part in the planning of the special Sunday
worship service and party for the reception of the new members.
- Pictorial Directory – We arrange for a periodical, updated pictorial directory of the congregational family.
Growth
Main
Street Festival – the second Saturday of May, this is a major
opportunity for Holy Trinity to share the Good News with the Laurel
community. A booth with information materials is provided.
- Information
and Publications – Through distribution of the church information
pamphlet, the daily devotional "Christ in our Home," and "The Lutheran"
monthly magazine, visitors and members receive information about our
congregation, services times, and special services, as well as the
devotions and information about the Evangelical Lutheran Church in
America (ELCA) of which we are affiliated.
Spiritual Gifts
- Discover
your Spiritual Gifts – During the New Members' orientation, we use a
spiritual gifts questionnaire to help each baptized person realize he
or she is a gifted child of God…and to discover what his/her gifts
might be.
- Work with other Holy Trinity Ministries – We
offer help to members and ministries in order to enable people to fine
ways in which they want to serve. Christians are called to serve, and
this ministry exists to support people in their service.
If we can help you in any way, or if you would like to join us
in our MGSG work, please call the church office.
In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they
may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven.
